When God’s Trumpet Commands

Published on 9 November 2025 at 14:29

“And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” (Matthew 24:31)

There was a time when the promise of Christ’s return stirred only fear in me. The thought of the trumpet, the trembling earth, and the holy presence of God made my soul shrink back. But surrender to Jesus changes everything. What once brought dread now fills me with hope. The day of His coming is no longer a threat, but a summons to stand and say, Here I am, Lord.

Our assurance is grounded in God’s Word, not in shifting emotions. Life is found in the Son. If you have Christ, you have life. This confidence is not earned by progress or good works, but is received as a gift, secured by the cross and the empty tomb. The trumpet will not bring shame to those who trust Him. It will call us to a royal gathering, a moment when time itself will bow before the eternal King.

The certainty of that day gives purpose to this one. It teaches us to walk humbly, to forgive quickly, and to live ready. Every sunrise reminds us that history is moving toward a divine appointment. The same voice that once called Lazarus from the grave will call each of us by name. What a sound that will be, the echo of grace filling the heavens and the music of redemption complete.

A day is coming when Christ will return in glory. Angels will move at His word. The dead in Christ will rise. Those who belong to Him will meet the Lord with joy. For the believer, this is not a storm to fear. It is the homecoming our hearts have longed for.

So I return to that vision. The sky thunders. The trumpet sounds. Now my heart answers with joy. I stand and lift my arms. Here I am, Lord. This is the fruit of assurance. Not presumption, but peace. Not pride, but trust in the One who keeps His word.

If the thought of that day still brings fear, before you do anything else this week, do not hesitate to ask God to reveal the reason and to turn fear into joy through trust in Jesus. He delights to answer the sincere heart.

Shalom, Jacques
