“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you.” Psalm 63:1
December quiets the world for a little while.
We pause and breathe, but God remains constant.
His love does not waver. His desire for us endures.
Yet devotion can slip away. When life crowds in, the quiet place is often the first to be lost.
The quiet place is never empty.
It is an invitation from the One who knows us by name.
Jesus rose early to pray. He left the crowds to seek His Father.
If the Son sought the quiet place, how much more do we, who need God for every breath?
This season, give God a portion of your quiet.
Trade a moment of comfort for a moment in His presence.
Let Christmas be marked not only by joy, but by a return to the secret place.
Our bodies need rest, but our spirits need Him more.
If you long for a faithful end to this year and a hopeful beginning to the next, make time with God your first pursuit, wherever you find yourself.
In stillness and in His Word, may your soul find again the One it truly seeks.
May your December be filled with His peace and presence.
Shalom, JM
