“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
1 Cor. 15:55
As this Resurrection Sunday draws to a close, what a glorious truth to carry with us into the week ahead: death has lost its final word.
Because of sin, death once held its sting. It stood as a fearful reminder of judgment, separation, and the grave reality of our fallen condition. But Jesus Christ, the Son of God, stepped into our world as the Son of Man, walked the path of suffering, and laid down His life in love for a world He came to save. He did not remain in the tomb. He rose in power, and in rising, He broke the hold of sin, shattered the fear of death, and secured everlasting life for all who trust in Him.
This is the wonder of the Cross and the empty tomb. We do not merely celebrate an event from the past. We rejoice in a living victory that changes everything for the present and the future. In Christ, we no longer need to fear death, eternal loss, or condemnation. By grace we have been saved, and through Him we have the sure hope of life that never ends.
What an amazing King we serve. The only living God humbled Himself, bore our sin, and triumphed over the grave. As He said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (Jn. 11:25). And because He lives, we who belong to Him shall live also.
So as we enter a new week, let us meditate on this precious gift of everlasting life. Let us seek Him more earnestly, love Him more deeply, and walk more closely in obedience to His Word. Let gratitude shape our choices, our worship, and our witness. The tomb is empty, Christ is risen, and our hope is alive.
Shalom, Jacques
