“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1 (ESV) There is great encouragement in knowing that God never leaves His people without Himself.
In every generation, through every shaking, He remains near, faithful, holy, and enough.
Yet as I look at the world and listen to the stories of those I love, a deep reminder rises in my heart: we need God. Not as an idea. Not as a last resort. Not as a religious add-on. We need Him as our life. Our strength. Our wisdom. Our hope.
Many carry heavy burdens. Many feel the weight of confusion, disappointment, and spiritual weariness. Some drift from simple faith in Christ. Some listen to voices that promise comfort without surrender, blessing without obedience, and Christianity without the cross.
Yet this is not a word of fear. It is a call to thirst again.
David did not say, “God, I sometimes think of You.” He said, “My soul thirsts for you.” That is the cry of one who knows that life without God becomes dry and empty, no matter how full it may seem.
We do not need panic. We need prayer. We do not need despair. We need discernment. We do not need to lose heart. We need to return to the Lord with fresh hunger for His presence.
Jesus remains the vine. We remain the branches. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. With Him, we can endure, obey, love, serve, and stand.
Let this week be a turning of the heart. Seek Him earnestly. Trust Him deeply. Walk with Him closely. The world may feel uncertain, but God has not changed. His grace is enough. His presence satisfies. His people are never without hope.
Shalom, Jacques

The Law of Love
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37 to 40. This passage brings us straight back to the heart of faithful living: love.
Wonderfully Made
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:13 to 14) A plunge into the English Channel became a fresh reminder that the human body bears witness to God’s purposeful and breathtaking design.
When the Road Gets Steep
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith...” (Hebrews 12:1 to 2) When the road rises, and breath grows thin, we are not alone, for this passage calls us to endure by fixing our eyes on Christ.
