“In the human body, there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function. And so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others.”(Romans 12:4 to 5) [TPT] This week, let this picture reshape how you see the Church, not as separate camps, but as one living Body across the world.
Paul’s words expose two dangers: division and pride. We guard our own circles, forgetting the greater Body. We treat other believers as optional, as if Christ’s Church could be divided by our preferences. But the Spirit calls us to something deeper: one Body, one Spirit, one Lord, one hope. In a fractured world, this unity is not optional. It is our witness.
Unity does not erase difference. The body needs every part. Eyes do not compete with hands. Hearts do not despise feet. Each member carries dignity and purpose, assigned by God. When we honour the gifts of others, we honour the wisdom of Christ, our Head.
After a long delay, I finally watched the short docuseries “Jonathan and Jesus,” following Jonathan Roumie of The Chosen. As someone shaped in a Protestant mould, I found it surprisingly moving. Through voices as varied as Pope Francis and Alice Cooper, the series kept returning to one theme: Jesus still draws people together across backgrounds, traditions, and struggles. He invites us to see through a different lens, and to ask what surrender to God might change in us.
Let this be our heart check. Where have we drawn lines between “us” and “them”? What would Jesus do with our suspicion and distance? This week, pray for another congregation. Bless a believer outside your circle. Honour the unity Christ has given.
Let's step into this week with a resolve to strengthen the Body, not shrink it. Let your words and actions build up, not divide.
Shalom, JM
We Are All One Body
“In the human body, there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function. And so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others.”(Romans 12:4 to 5) [TPT] This week, let this picture reshape how you see the Church, not as separate camps, but as one living Body across the world.
Fellowship Matters
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV)
When God Moves You
God has always called His people to move. Sometimes, He leads us to new places. More often, He stirs us within, shifting our hearts, our hopes, and our work. In every movement, He is shaping faith, revealing purpose, and drawing us deeper into His story.
Choosing the Better Portion, From His Presence to Faithful Action
There is a gentle drift that can overtake us, both in the church and in our own hearts. We can become incredibly busy with deeds, yet find ourselves less present with Him.
Devoted in the Quiet Place
“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you.” Psalm 63:1
There is Power in the Name of Jesus
“By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.”
Life is not an Audition for the Afterlife.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing. It is the gift of God...For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2 verse 8 and 10)
Through His Wounds Comes Healing
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)
When God’s Trumpet Commands
“And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” (Matthew 24:31)
Jesus is Here
"Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away?" Jeremiah 23:23
Today is the Day
“Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2, KJV)
Walk forward in Faith
Deut. 8:2-3 (ESV) "And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord."
